REHYDRATES:

Ultra-refreshing from the first sip. And hypotonic, meaning it’s absorbed fast.

REPLENISHES:

Puts back the natural electrolytes you sweat out.

RECHARGES:

Powered by magnesium - which your body uses to turn food into energy. Setting you up for whatever’s next: morning, noon or night.

What are electrolytes?

These are minerals your body runs on - like sodium, potassium and magnesium. You lose them when you sweat: the gym, the sauna, the dancefloor, or even a hot day. Electro Beer replenishes them, literally re-energising you.

What does magnesium do?

Magnesium is a work horse. It’s one of the minerals your body uses to keep your muscles and nerves working, and is used to turn food into energy. It’s also one you lose through sweat - so it’s a good one to top up, alongside the other electrolytes in Mash Gang Electro Brew, including sodium and potassium.

Which electrolytes are in Mash Gang Electro Beer?

  • Sodium and chloride - from the pink Himalayan salt (which is mostly sodium chloride, plus a scattering of trace minerals).
  • Potassium - chiefly from the coconut water, which is naturally potassium-rich. There's also a little coming through from the beer base itself (barley, wheat and yeast all carry small amounts of potassium, magnesium and phosphate).
  • Magnesium - from the magnesium citrate.

What’s the difference between an electrolyte and a mineral?

A ‘mineral’ is the raw material and an ‘electrolyte’ is the job it does once it's dissolved in you. Sodium, for example, is both - a mineral in the salt, and an electrolyte once it's in your bloodstream. Note: not every mineral is an electrolyte – for example, iron and zinc are minerals that don't act as electrolytes. The main electrolytes are sodium, potassium, chloride, calcium and magnesium.

What does hypotonic mean?

Tonicity compares how concentrated a fluid is against your blood. Blood plasma sits at roughly 275–295 mOsm/kg. A drink is:

  • Hypotonic if it is more dilute than your blood (lower osmolality; hypotonic sports drinks are typically under c.270 mOsm/kg, and low in sugar).
  • Isotonic if it is about the same as blood.
  • Hypertonic if it is more concentrated than blood (usually sugary drinks, fruit juices, etc).

Since a hypotonic drink is more dilute than the fluid lining your gut, water flows down the concentration gradient from your gut into your bloodstream. Mash Gang electro beer is exactly that, thanks to it being low in sugar and light on solutes – meaning it is absorbed quickly.

How does it recharge me?

It contains no caffeine, and won’t drive a sugar rush, which means your body won’t ‘crash’ like with other sugary drinks or fruit juice. The ‘recharge’ is about feeling replenished- properly hydrated, with your electrolytes topped back up, and leaving you feeling ready for what’s next. Magnesium plays its part too, since your body uses it to make energy.

How will I feel after drinking it?

Refreshed and hydrated - like you’ve done your body a small favour, instead of the opposite. It’s a proper beer that leaves you better than it found you.

Is it actually alcohol-free?

Yes - under 0.5% ABV, which means it is officially classed as ‘alcohol-free’. All the beer, none of the sore head.

Is there any caffeine in it?

No. The lift you’ll feel is hydration doing its thing, rather than relying on a stimulant.

Does it actually taste like a beer?

100%. It’s crisp, dry and citrussy - brewed to drink and enjoy just like you would any beer (but particularly helpful when you also need a ‘boost’).

Is it a sports drink?

No, but many people find it the perfect ‘beer + electrolyte in one’. Unlike other beers, it puts something back in your body.

Can I drink it on a night out?

Yes, absolutely. You can use it as a pacer between rounds to stay hydrated, or start and finish the night with one. You’ll wake up the next day feeling ready to take on the day.
